photos! Day trips

In this post are the photos from Yehliu Geological Park and Jiufen.

Yehliu Geological Park is a small peninsula with incredible geological features on it, mostly looking like sandstone carved by the water. The seas were very rough the day we went, and it was easy to see how they could be sculpted. (When Ted and I went in summer, the ocean was dead calm,a nd we couldn’t figure out why those red lines were drawn so high up. Now we know.)

Like Jerome in Arizona, Jehliu was once a gold-mining town, now houses galleries, teahouses, and tourist junk shops. This being Taiwan, it gets a lot ore crowded than Jerome! But we did enjoy a quiet cup of tea, with the attendant ceremony, on a mountain patio.
